Stretching & Exercise Breaks

Two types:

  • Aerobic exercise
  • Micro breaks: short breaks to relax, restore, re-nourish, gently stretch.( Remember; always check with your physician before starting a exercise routine.)

Reasons to stretch at work:

  • Reduce muscle tension, stress;
  • Increase alertness, productivity;
  • Improve circulation;
  • To feel better!
  • If you stretch your co-workers just might try it, too.

Here are some things to do when stretching:

  • Make slow movements.
  • Hold the stretch for at least 5 seconds (10 is recommended).
  • Experiment with slight variations in posture and movement to improve stretch effectiveness (especially with legs).
  • Stretch frequently, especially when sitting or in other constrained environments.
